A message from our Executive Director, Andy Norman
Today is Giving Tuesday; we’re asking for your help.
As you know, CIRCE’s Mental Immunity Project is an ambitious effort to reduce everyone’s susceptibility to propaganda, conspiratorial thinking, hate speech, ideological division, and the like. We mean to provide every willing American with the tools they need to spot and ignore manipulative information.
You may not know that we’ve accomplished great things in 2024. We’ve developed a suite of lesson plans that busy teachers can use to inoculate their students.1 We’ve shared these materials with thousands of teachers. At one workshop, 87% strongly agreed that the workshop left them “more confident in my ability to cultivate critical thinking and other misinformation-resilience strategies."
We’ve created a library of techniques that really work to build mental immunity and many sharable graphics that deliver bite-sized cognitive immune boosts. We authored the first-of-its-kind guide to mental immune system care. We’ve published a scholarly paper2 that gives the science of cognitive immunology a firm conceptual foundation, and plan to scale our impact in 2025.
We’ve given a lot of thought to our world’s misinformation predicament. We know that this is the way out. We need help, though, to continue developing innovative solutions.
Please give generously to help the Mental Immunity Project, and together, we’ll de-pollute the infosphere.
No needles are involved in our inoculations; just fun learning activities. Like the one where students get to design their own conspiracy theory!
This is the pre-print version of the paper, but it has since been accepted for publication and we expect the finalized version to be published any day now. Stay tuned!
